Birmingham

Addie and I went to Birmingham today to visit some sweet friends: Allison and Josh (who was actually home from work due to knee surgery) and their three children: Abigail, Jack, and baby Isabel. Addie and Isabel are about 6 weeks apart in age. Allison loves to take pictures of children, and she's fabulous at it! We are so excited that she would take some of Addie, and I've shared some of our favorites here!

As Paul wrote about on his blog, we had someone come to the house and do some newborn pictures with us on April 14th. Here's the first collage that she created from some of the pictures. Please check out her website and blog also!

a visit to Atlanta

Paul had a database training in Atlanta for a week. On Thursday, Addie and I drove to Atlanta to see her daddy, great aunt Nana, uncle Jay, aunt Millie, and to meet cousin Lola and uncle Scruffles! I'm starting to slack on taking pictures because we didn't get one with Addie and uncle Scruffles! She's easy to travel with now...we'll see if that changes in the next few months!

Walk of Life

Paul, Marie (Anna's Mom), Addie, and Anna all participated in the 7th Annual Walk of Life in Montgomery. This local organization raises money to provide mammograms for women who are unable to get them otherwise.

4 weeks old!

On April 16th, Addie turned 4 weeks old!

Addie, Diane, and Ellie
visiting Robin & soon to be baby Hayden at the hospital where Addie was born
We actually ran into several of Addie's nurses who remembered her! Because Ellie, Diane and Tim's daughter, had been sick on and off since Addie was born, this was the first time she got to meet her. After being encouraged to talk to baby Addie (even though Ellie seemed confused and said but Addie couldn't talk back), Ellie (who's almost 4) came over to me, patted my tummy, and declared "empty, empty." I suppose I might be able to take that as a compliment!

We had a very busy day: volunteering at the Joy to Life for the Walk on Saturday, going to church, and visiting baby Hayden in the hospital...all after 2pm! By the time we got home to take these pictures, exhaustion among other things had set in!

1st bottle

After a very busy weekend of visits from Jay, Millie, Paul's dad, Paul's mom, and her husband, we headed out to a dinner with the lifegroup we've been attending. We decided that to top off the weekend, we'd try out a bottle for the first time. Addie did beautifully! Now Paul can do a weekend nighttime feeding here and there.

a family visit

Addie's Aunt Millie, Uncle Jay, and Grandpa came to visit! We went out for her 1st family dinner (and she slept the whole time...whew!)

Addie's 1st bath

Whether it was because we had no idea what we were doing or not, Addie was NOT pleased with being placed in the water! Maybe it was because her first memory of water was at the hospital where she had her head placed underneath the running water at the hospital for her "first official bath." Who knows...but she definitely exercised her lungs for a good 5 minutes straight!

Finally...calmed down.

I'm not entirely sure we had the "hammock" installed correctly.

In her new towel that Kathryn gave her!

much better...now feed me!

Kat's Art Show

Kathryn's Watercolor Gallery was Addie's first "event." She had so much fun looking at the people and the lights. She was SO alert the whole time.
