6 Months

i can't believe our little guy is 6 months old...and has been for almost 3 weeks now.
IMG_7574 it's been quite an adjustment (for me at least) going from three to four kids. some of it is our season of life and the dramatic changes in our normal of adding a baby to our family and starting a kindergartener in school in a week's time. some of it's because we have (for two more weeks!) four kids five and under. but we're finally feeling like we have a new normal. not a fully together normal; there's a lot of juggling that goes on, but we've shifted some (reasonable) responsibilities to the girls, and it's made a huge difference.

and there's grace. lots of grace that we have to show each other, and i have to show myself.

My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." 2 Corinthians 12:9

He's such a joy.
IMG_7610 he adores his sisters more than anything. he can be in tears and they'll climb in the car and he stops to grin at them.
IMG_7566
he's rolling over front to back but still hasn't figured out back to front, which i'm completely fine with because it means he's still mostly in one place.
IMG_7596 he loves sitting up but can't quite do it on his own.
IMG_7604
he loves to blow raspberries and now does this when he doesn't like food or spits up. not pleasant i say.
IMG_7642-2 food. well, he's quite content with his milk. avocado was a bust and you can see what he thoughts of sweet potatoes:
we'll try again in a few weeks. he's certainly not hurting in the weight category though! he's a whopping 20lbs 5.5oz (90th%ile). my back and arms are feeling it since he can't hold on yet! he's not quite as crazy about the ergo as he use to be because he wants to see everything!

he's just started showing some preference to who he wants to hold him; and it's pretty sweet!.
IMG_7682-2
he loves his toys and everything goes in his mouth. everything. he doesn't have any teeth and isn't showing any signs of them yet. again, i'm just fine with that! the gummy bites still hurt even without the teeth!
IMG_7688 he loves to snuggle and rub his face on my shoulder. he's a tummy sleeper and has been for months (with the blessing of a doctor!). he takes great naps at home when we're here, but is just fine snoozing on the road when we're running errands or sitting in carpool line.

there are very few days that go by that i don't just stare in awe at this little miracle. not so much because he's perfect (although he is!); but because our God is so big. bigger than our plans. bigger than our fears. bigger than science. bigger than any limitation we could ever place on Him.

our little buddy is such a joy. a crazy miracle blessing. he's exhausting and energizing all at once. his giggles are contagious. and he's the perfect addition to our family.

happy (belated) six months little buddy.
months1-6
For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

Sunday

i've been confined to the house since friday morning battling strep. when i asked the doctor how long i should stay away from people (including my kids!), he said three days. three days?!? i don't have one day let alone three! but paul and my mom managed to keep me in the bed, away from the girls, and bringing me andrew when he needed to nurse.

so by sunday, three antibiotic doses in, i was ready to break out! paul took the girls to church and then a birthday party; and by the time they got home, i was dressed and ready to go. i sent him to starbucks for a little down time; and i grabbed my real camera and loaded up andrew in the stroller after he had just woken up...
IMG_7511 and the kids and i headed out for a walk/bike ride to the park.
IMG_7515 it was a comedy of stopping and starting and falling and racing and attempting to cross streets all together and get up hills and walk bikes down hills without speeding to the bottom where no one can stop...

but we made it to the park to run IMG_7533 and play
IMG_7528 pose and smile (none of which i requested and all of which she instigated and i just don't know when she got so big?!?)
Untitled-1 and just sit IMG_7532 and snuggle
IMG_7542
and relax in the beautiful day! IMG_7543 while i've been doing a picture a day, today was a day that i couldn't just pick one or even narrow it down to two to pick from...so i did an entire post. i'll pick just one when i'm more decisive...if that ever happens :)

Week 6/52

6 weeks of pictures & a 6 month old baby. None of which has happened quickly yet all of which has flown by! This project has turned more into a highlight of each of our days. I'm ok with that because I'm still taking more pictures than I was.

Day 36/365: heart donuts

Day 41/365: 40lbs of chicken...it's what's for dinner. Half sealed for the freezer & half made into meals.
Day 42/365: entirety of beads spilled not once but twice. I almost dislike them as much as I dislike stickers...
