Addie's Big Girl Room

I know I've said no less than a dozen times that I'll post pictures of the girl's and Addie's rooms, but I just haven't. They'd get messy; or they'd be clean but I'd forget to take pictures. It would be too dark or I would just be flat out too tired!

So finally, I took some pictures yesterday! :)

Here's Addie room when it was a nursery. I cannot believe it's been 2 years since we did this!

I am so thankful that we went ahead and transitioned her to a big girl bed. She has loved it and only gets out when she wake up after naps/in the morning! That may change when the girls get here, but we are counting our blessings that we don't have bedtime battles!

This room has been quite a process. I started a list months ago, and it felt so good to finally have it all together! I'm sorry the pictures are so dark. She gets great light in there...but not for taking pictures!

Here's her new bed. I got the headboard from bedroomfurniturenmore, a cymax.com store. Basically, I did a Google search, found the best price with no shipping!  I had the hardest time deciding on her bedding. Thankfully, I had a letting help narrowing it down! Her bedding actually came from Overstock.com.  I found it in several places, but again, this was the cheapest and I had a coupon and free shipping! Totally worth the search, I think!

You can see both the blue wall color that Paul's mom painted for us as well as Addie's new pink shades that my mom had made for us and Paul's dad hung for us! I don't remember the paint color, but it's the VOC free, all natural stuff. Totally worth it! I didnt get a shot of the recovered valance, but I think it blends nicely with things!

You may remember her dresser from where I posted it and Addie's new bed here. This was Paul's dresser that he let me paint white. We got the knobs from ebay (I won't bother linking those here because they took twice as long to arrive as expected).

I absolutely love the pictures DiAnna and Allison have taken of Addie. So what a better way to fill up the walls than with those pictures! The frames are all from Hobby Lobby bought at half price!

We finally found a spot for Addie's bookcase (from the Company Store Kids)...at the end of her bed! It fits perfectly and is already full of books (and toys!). The rest of the toys stay in her closet now. The baskets with pink liners came from Target (2 years ago) and the blue polka dot canvas bins came from Overstock.com.

I wanted all the girls to have their names in their room. I bought the unfinished wooden letters from the Letter and Sign Shop, painted them white and then covered them with a scrapbook paper using Modge Podge. Then I brushed them with a brown tented white paint to give them a more finished look. Addie's are my favorite! When we ask her what it says on her wall, she responds with Addie Am-rie! It's so cute!

The wooden kitchen was the final piece we moved into Addie's room. We bought it from another family with twin girls who had outgrown it (along with every piece of food and every pot, pan, or utensil any child could ever want!). Addie has already spent hours in there cooking eggs, pancakes, and pizza...oh, and fixing us tea that we have to blow before we can drink it! She loves to come in Addie's room and cook!

And there it is. A fully transitioned room. My only wish is that it was about 2 feet bigger on each side, but that's something we can't change. It doesn't seem to bother her though! She can pull every toy out of her closet, book off her shelf and item out of her kitchen and still manage to move around in there!

I'm hoping that it will be a special place for her, a haven of sorts, from what we're about to bring home!  She did tell me the other day that she was going to hug and hold the babies when they were born. I near about melted! And even though we know the reality of siblings, our prayer is that we can foster a sweet bond between her and the girls!

I'll work on another post about the girl's room soon!

{sigh}

she had a wonderful 1st night in her big girl bed. she cried for maybe 5 minutes and was asleep in 10, no getting out of bed. she piled herself up at the very top of the bed on the very flat pillow i put in there for her. i am very thankful for our video monitor! i just can't get over how tiny she looks in this big twin bed! oh how my baby girl is growing up before my eyes! i'm so proud of her for handling this transition so well. tomorrow night might be a completely different story, but i am thankful for tonight!

Here's her new dresser. the drawer pulls finally came, only after double the time estimated by the eb@y seller. needless to say, I won't be sharing the store with you here; but i do love how they turned out! sorry the pictures are so dark. i couldn't seem to get enough lighting in there.
