Sometimes I answer or reply. Other times I just smile and keep going.
You've got your hands full.
You must be really busy.
You must be super mom. {no, I'm just certifiably crazy}
Are they twins? {?}
Double the trouble. {Nope. Double the blessing.}
Are they fraternal or maternal? i.e. Are they fraternal or identical?
Are those twins? I'd kill myself... {oh my!}
Better you than me. {clearly}
Did you plan this? Expect it? Use drugs? Are they natural? Do twins run in your family? {Ummm}
Did you plan this? Expect it? Use drugs? Are they natural? Do twins run in your family? {Ummm}
Are they from two different families?
Which one's better, fusses more, sleeps more, cries more, talks more...?
Do they cry at the same time? {not when I can help it!}
Are they twins...?
Again, there isn't anything wrong with most of those comments/questions. Some are asking for a little TMI, others are offering a little TMI. But overall. Ok.
So yesterday...
I simply had to go to the grocery store. Lots of BOGO deals, monthly cooking with Mandy this weekend, good coupons.
AND...not a lick of milk, cheese, ham, good fruit, or juice in the house!
So I took all 3 girls to Pub1ix.
Addie in the green car cart.
AK in the basket in her car seat.
Anne Perry in the Baby Bjorn on me.
Pulling cart #2
List organized by section in hand. Coupons cut. Snacks. Drink.
Oh...and 2 year old in panties.
Bribe:
If you speak kindly to people who talk to you (or just don't yell NO!) and obey Mommy while we shop, you can have a cookie (the little free kind).
If you still have dry panties when we're ready to leave, you can have a BIG cookie.
Every one of our three girls were angels (yes, i too was shocked and amazed!). I could not have asked for them to be sweeter. AP fell asleep on me. AK drifted off in her car seat. Addie managed to only gently say No to one person but then actually talked to the lady and told her about her sisters. She maybe had a 3.5 second cry because she got her hand/arm/thumb stuck in the steering wheel of the green car cart.
We were almost done. Headed back to get ham and cookies with dry panties!
I was carefully maneuvering through the main front aisle that had all sorts of signs and stuff in it, staying on the right hand side, pushing one cart and pulling the other. Two ladies behind me waited for me to get on the right side and swerved to the left to pass me. (I really wasnt going that slow thank.you.very.much!)
Of course, we all got stopped by someone in front of them. So I actually had to stop and wait for the two ladies trying to pass me. As the second lady passed me...
She looked from me. To the full cart behind me. To Addie. To AK in the other cart. To AP. Back to me. I smiled nicely.
And she says to me...
I think I'd wait until Daddy got home.
And turns and walks away.
That was it. The only impression I will ever have of this woman.
I smiled. Paused another second.
And thought: not a single one of my children is crying. I'm not in your way, in fact, you're in my way now and I was patiently waiting for you to hurry up. I have almost successfully made it out of the store pushing a cart with 2 children, carrying a child, pulling another cart...with a 2 year old with dry panties all in under an hour.
And you're telling me I should wait until Daddy gets home?
Oh well. Addie and I shared a BIG cookie on the way home! :)
