Tuesday Morning

Who doesn't love a good deal? I know most of us do. My aunt introduced me to Tuesday Morning many years ago in Atlanta. When we got one in Montgomery, I was so excited. I'd visit every once in a while, always finding something fun. Tuesday Morning has the best "stuff." In addition to the fun "stuff", the store also carries a lot of great necessities!

After finally going through our mail Monday night, I come across the ad announcing that the store would be reopening (and restocked...which in my mind equals, a little more organized than usual) Tuesday, October 7th. Well, since Addie and I are out early taking Daddy to work; I thought it'd be a great time to drop by on the opening day.

Apparently there are some VERY avid, dedicated "Tuesday Morningers" out there. When I arrived (at 745am for an 800 opening), there were already EIGHT people lined up outside. Huh? They were all talking about what they wanted and were looking for...etc, etc. They had their ads in hand (mine was still at home on the living room floor) with circles around their finds. I didn't even bother to grab a cart so as not to disturb anyone (or make them think i was cutting in line!). So I proceeded to wait quietly, taking it all in.

The countdown began: announcing...(even pointing out the different times people had on their watches...which they quickly synchronized!)

10 minutes.

5 minutes.

3 minutes.

8am...and the doors are still locked tight, not a clerk in sight.

So...one of the ladies in the front of the line starts "beating" on the window. Yes, knocking, face up to glass with hands shielding eyes in an attempt to see in, then beating...I mean, because when a place says it will open at 8am, it better open on time. I was standing there trying so hard NOT to laugh (and writing my blog entry in my head!). Finally the doors opened (I'm still standing 8th in line, wide eyed and totally confused at this scene).

The 1st lady (with husband in tow) rush in, not even bothering to hold the door for anyone else to even grab. They had items in their buggy before the rest of us could even get in. Oh my...

We did find a few "good deals" for Christmas presents. Addie had fun taking everything in. She loves getting to ride up in the front of the cart sitting up (we'll see how long that lasts!). It was only a fraction more organized than usual though.

Will I venture to again attempt to attend a Tuesday Morning opening day sale. Hummmm, why not!
