Backing Up...
Ok...so I've been a terrible blogger. No, I haven't gone into shock that Addie has turned one; but Thursday night, I was completely exhausted!!! We had such a fun day...but every time I started editing pictures, I'd practically fall asleep at the computer. So...we're going to back up a little.
I decided that I needed a few "final-days-of -being-zero" pictures, you know since the 10,000 I have from the last year aren't enough!

Our baby girl is one!!!
We started the day off with Chick-fil-a and a visit to Daddy's work with Addie all decked out in her birthday pajamas (& hat)! Addie loves to go visit Ms. Colleen and her Uncle Tim (and Daddy, of course) at work! Ms. Colleen has some fun stuffed animals and dancing things. Addie immediately wanted to go to her and play!

Not to worry, I promise I'll get her 1st Birthday post up soon...but I couldn't resist posting this!
We've started realizing that Addie is getting more and more of what we say or do. From asking her if she wants to read and her responding with "tat" because she wants to read her Cat book (as she crawls towards it) to putting food in her mouth and saying "Mmmmmmm" because we've always done that with her...she's understanding! We've finally figured out her sign for "please." Instead of tapping/rubbing her chest with her hand, she does a quick little wave. It's hilarious!
We've always talked about "blowing kisses" and helped her put her hand to her face while we'd say "Mwaaaaah" but had no idea that she was understanding any of it until last night!
You'll get to see her sign for "more" (clapping hands together) and "all done" (hands over/on her head) as well as her waving. You can tell this was one of the 1st times we've seen her do this too because we totally crack up! She was playing ball with her Daddy (impressive, I know ;) and when I told her to say "bye bye" to the camera, she did this:

Welcome to the World!
Only a day shy of a year later, Addie's baby cousin has been born! After a long (long) long labor and hours...3 and half, I think, of pushing, Kira Jane was born! Mommy and baby (and Daddy) are doing well, although I'm sure a bit tired.
Interestingly, Paul and Jay (the brothers) are a day shy of 2 years apart. Now the very first cousins in our family are a day shy of 1 year apart. Given all the summer birthdays, I'm thrilled to have not one but two little ones to share a birthday month with! Spring babies are wonderful!

Happy Huh?
Who knew that the only birthday present I would want this year would be functioning plumbing in our house! Who knew that my birthday celebration, by choice, would entail moving back into our house and truly be considered a celebration! Who knew how dependent we are on say: running water, toilets, washing machines, dishwashers, flowing water...?
We are finally (after spending 5 nights at my sweet mom's) back in our house and can use running water! We are so grateful to my mom for opening her home to us and literally allowing us to take over! She was wonderful to give us breaks, get up early with Addie, and provide us with far more than just a roof over our heads.
Who knew that all the effort we were going to in order to make our yard look nice for Addie's upcoming little birthday party would be so overshadowed by this:
Ever dropped a terracotta flower pot, watched it break to several large pieces on the ground and had to pick them all up. Well...that's what our sewage was running {or not running} through...reassuring, huh?!?!?

It's amazing what 4 days of straight rain can do to a yard, especially when someone drives a backhoe all over it!
What's that...? you ask. Oh, that's a huge root that is was growing deep in our front yard, several yards away from any tree!
Might have had something to do with breaking this:

Oh, these were the original terracotta pipes put in the ground in 1928...

A quick fact...did you know that it takes a minimum of 5 men to dig the first hole in a yard? One to dig and 4 to smoke while watching...duh!
We are so thankful to have running water again! We are so thankful that Addie's top 2 teeth have finally pushed their way through. We are so thankful that we have a home to have to leave and come back to. We are so thankful for honest, competent workmen (and I'm being serious!). We are thankful for our new carpet, although we'd have never have ordered it had we known this was going to happen. We are so thankful for our new refrigerator that has ICE in it...yes, we've gone without ice for the past 3 years! We are incredibly thankful for each other and our precious God that we serve who promises to meet every single tiny itty bitty need...and the big ones too.
