Fireworks (better late than never!)

We had the joy of seeing fireworks in a community that surrounds a lake. It's beautiful, to say the least; and we got there just in time to see them start! Perfect timing--no wait--when you're toting around a 2 year old and twin babies!

Addie talked about seeing the fireworks the whole ride out there. They were going to be BIG and red and purple and blue and... Paul got her out and put her on his shoulders. Within two explosions, she was begging to get back in her car seat in the car! So we rolled down the windows and let her sit in the car. Paul stood at her window, and I think she held his hand the entire time as she huddled in her seat!

Here are a few of my favorites, but you can go here to see the rest of them! Hope you had a blessed fourth (two weeks ago)!

Pooltime Fun

I took these pictures almost 2 weeks ago! The babies have changed so much even in just that time! Since then, this pool has bit the dust due to Abbey's claws. Not to worry. We have a replacement that I found at 50% off! Whoohoo!

When we went to Allison's a few weeks ago, they had their pool up on their deck. Brilliant! At that time, we had millions of mosquitoes in our yard; so there was no putting a pool down there! (but we've had it sprayed since then). The 5 remaining mosquitoes all landed right on Anne Perry's head or my legs! But the deck works great!

Abbey loves to attempt to get the toys out or drink the water. She's such a retriever!

Addie loves her pool! She loves to swim, blow bubbles, and dump water. And I love how serious she can be about it all!

The little girls sat outside with me while Addie was swimming (and I went through mail!). They were quite content with the breeze and being able to bounce a little. What precious personalities are emerging from these girls! Can you tell which one is a little more serious? Laid back?   littlegirls
By the time we went inside, Audrey Kate was stripped to nothing but a diaper. But here was her take on the humidity. I'd have to agree!

Diapers

We've gone through a LOT of diapers over the past 2+ months.

Like 1,500!

So as the girls have gotten bigger, we've gotten braver.

I started primarily using cloth diapers with Addie when she was 6 months old.

Why would I do such a crazy, insane thing?

1.) attempting to avoid the chemicals found in and created by disposables
2.) the extreme amount of waste we were producing
3.) expense

Why have I already started using them with Anne Perry and Audrey Kate?

1.) expense!

No matter what incredible sales you find or what coupons you stockpile, there is no getting around that diapers are expensive!!!

We have been so blessed by friends and family to only have to buy a very small portion of the disposables we've used, but we have about 10 days left of size 1 disposables.

So we took the plunge. And aren't they cute?

These are gdiapers. I have 6 smalls. They are a little different than our bumGenius diapers we will eventually use full time. I kind of feel like I'm cheating. These have biodegradable (and chlorine free) liners that look like ginormous maxi-pads that you insert into the diaper liner. The diapers rarely get soiled because of the plastic liner inside them, so very little washing!

The downside? Unlike the bumGenius we use, these are size specific. The upside? They are perfect for tiny little 2 month old bottoms!

Baby {Doll} Love

Addie loves her baby sisters, and it's really spurred on her already strong drive to nurture and care for others...in a two year old fashion!

I walked in one day to find Addie holding both of her babies up against her. I asked her what she was doing. Her response: feeding my babies. (for the recored: she's never commented on me nursing the girls). I then asked her what she was feeding her babies. Her response: sandwiches! I said, oh really, well are they drinking milk? Her response: yes, and (looking around) tea!

Addie was out playing in the living room, and my mom went to put something in Addie's room. The door was shut; and when we opened it, this is what we found:

Of course Addie rushed in and informed us that her babies were sleeping and not to take pic-tures of my babies! But I'm afraid that was one request I could not comply with.bIMG_0280

She jumped up on the bed and put on her crown she got from her Aunt Laura, Uncle Dennis, and cousins Annemarie and Timmy!bIMG_0284
Addie has her moments, more than I'd care to admit; but she is more engaging and more fun than she's ever been before! Now if we can just get her to stop twisting her hair out!
