Thanksgiving Part 2

After eating a fabulous lunch with my mom (Addie's Rie Rie), we loaded up the car and headed to Augusta. By the time we got there, the "kids" had gone to a movie; but we got to see Addie's Gramma, her husband Al and his daughter and her family, and Addie's Grandpa.

We (Paul, Addie, and I) got up early Friday morning to go shop for Christmas present deals. It was quite a successful journey! We then met Addie's Gramma (Paul's mom) and her brother Mike and his family: Heather, Lauren, and Thomas for breakfast. Addie loved playing with her great Uncle Mike. We were so happy to see all of them, but especially Mike. He went through an exhausting battle with throat/thyroid cancer this time last year...and won. He's been cancer free for 6 months now! Praise God!

We went back to Addie's Gramma's house and ate more yummy food, napped some, and played in the yard with the dogs.
Addie loves Ginger!

...going...going

...gone!

...or maybe I'll try walking!
Jay and Millie brought their dog Eli with them. We love Eli, and he's so sweet and gentle with Addie! He's going to make a great big brother to their new baby girl! :)

...so very close!

Addie's Gramma gave her the greatest book: Little Reindeer. It's a finger puppet book, and we might just have to ask for Little Lamb or Little Penguin for her birthday! She loves it! She stares at the little reindeer the whole time you read it to her! Too cute! Addie Mommy says (for Addie): "Thank you Gramma!"

O Christmas Tree

Paul, Addie, and I went to pick up our Christmas tree Monday night. Our church had the option of preordering trees to benefit the Montgomery area Baptist Hospice. It was absolutely freezing and little miss refused to wear socks. So after we chose our tree, Addie and I waited in the car as the guys tied it to the top! ...another 1st!

We'll post more pictures after we get it decorated. Right now, it has 1,000 lights on it (if my calcuations are correct). Can we say I go a little overboard when it comes to Christmas lights?

:(

Addie's been sick with a cold on and off for the past few weeks. The whole nine yards: gunky green nose (which she eagerly allows hates for me to wipe), random cough, frequent night wakings, and just all around yuckiness. Most of the time, she's in a fabulous mood and doesn't look sick. The lack of sleep her Mommy and Daddy have been getting lately look otherwise.

It got worse this morning. Clue #1: she fell asleep on the way home from dropping her Daddy off at work. She's usually raring to go and eager for breakfast. Not today. Clue #2: she napped for almost 2 hours. She's a 30-45 minute cat napper on an average day. And when she woke up, she was burning up! I thought it was because she'd been all cozy in her bed, and I was just cold. Nope...she definitely had a fever: 99.5? 100.9? 101.6? Try 102...

So what is it? Well...thankfully it's not RSV or bronchitis or even allergies (she's too young, I think). It is, however, a nasty cold followed by Addie's very first ear infection. :( This is one first I could do without; as well as the yummy disgusting antibiotic I get to squirt force down her throat for the next 10 days.

She's the BEST sick baby I've ever seen! She was an angel at the doctor (no tears even)! We're quite thankful she hasn't had an ear infection up until this point (given the number her mommy had). We just hope she feels back to her normal perky self soon!

Thanksgiving Part 1

Our Thanksgiving really did have 3 parts...so here's the 1st blog entry about Addie's 1st Thanksgiving!

We alternate where we spend Thanksgiving day; and this year was with my family. After playing things by ear right up until the last few days, we decided to have dinner at the House at the Renaissance Hotel in downtown Montgomery. When my grandmother (Maw Maw) was alive but could no longer cook, we would all go to the Ritz Carlton in Atlanta for Thanksgiving. While this wasn't the Ritz, they had a yummy buffet with all the fixings plus some! Addie ate bits of turkey, sweet potatoes, carrots, and don't forget the cheerios! We all (except Addie) topped it off with pecan pie and vanilla ice cream! Yummy!

As you can see, Addie thoroughly enjoyed herself; and she even figured out the easiest way to drink her bottle while sitting in a high chair...another 1st.

We got some great pictures with the 3 of us, but I'm saving those for Christmas cards!

Addie loves her Rie Rie!

Since I'm usually behind the camera, it was good to get in front of it and get a picture with me and Addie.

Not Me Monday

I did not load dirty dishes into our dishwasher only to realize the current dishes in there were clean. And I certainly did not go ahead and keep loading it with dishes and rerun it! That would be a terrible waste of water, dish washing soap, and electricity! I'd never do such a thing!

My family has not been sick on and off for the past 3 weeks. My child certainly does not have another cold; and I do not let her nose get as gunky as possible before wiping it because she absolutely hates having her face wiped! I'd never use my shirt to do it either! She's not waking up an average of 5-7 times a night right now because she's so congested. Her Daddy and I are not struggling to stay awake during the day because of the mere 2-3 hour stretches of sleep we've had for the past few weeks. Nope...not us!

My mom did not offer to buy us a really nice kitchen trashcan for Christmas (because somehow the lid to our other trashcan did not mysteriously disappear) to help keep our dogs and future toddler out of our trash. She was certainly not all excited about getting us a finger-print-proof trashcan. Last week, she did not sadly inform me after visiting Bed Bath and Beyond that there was in fact no such thing as a finger-print-proof trashcan (as she held her thumb in the air). I of course did not give her the famous daughter "huh?" look. Because to my mom this certainly must not mean that the trashcan would have the capabilities to recognize your finger-print thus keeping your animals and upcoming toddler out of the trashcan (and husband too)! As my husband pointed out though, I'm not sure we'd actually want that type of computer system in our trashcan. Who knows what would not happen when it did not malfunction! Not us!

And...my 8 month old is certainly not better at doing push ups than either her Mommy or Daddy! She's only 8 months old. There's no way her stomach muscles are stronger than ours! And she's certainly not so close to power crawling that it's scary! Nope, not her!
we'll work on form later!

so funny!

Now...do leave a comment and share what you did not do this past week! And make sure to visit MckMama's blog!

Happy Monday!
