new friends and old

there's one thing for sure: having twins has not slowed us down. in fact, I think we've sped up a little more because I'm not carrying 35lbs of extra weight. now it's just 28lb of baby + carriers. ok. so maybe I'm carrying the same amount of weight, but at least I can breathe and{put them down} now!

we love getting together with Elijah Brooks and his mama (my childhood friend) Erin. To say Addie loves EB is an understatement!

You wouldn't know that here!

but everything seems to be a tad like this for Addie right now...

the babies decided that they would 1.) not take a bottle and 2) want to be held in the ridiculous heat!

But that's ok. Addie thoroughly enjoyed her yogurt & apparently didn't mind me taking her picture?

My sweet friend Julie let us come visit her a few weeks ago. Savannah is about to turn 4. She and Addie had fun playing together!  Savannah is a big fan of books and just sat down and started reading; and of course, Addie couldn't resist being interested!

Savannah's little brother was born Saturday at 37+ weeks, a bit unexpected. He was doing fine until they found a tear in his lung. I don't know many details except that he's been moved to another hospital, I'm assuming to spend some time in the NICU. They believe he will be ok, but I cannot imagine the fear this sweet family is feeling, not to mention that Julie won't be able to visit him until she's discharged in the next few days!  Please pray for this precious family!

Flashback Friday

...better late than never, right? Well, I have a good excuse: massive sinus infection! Can we say painful? After a trip to the doctor, some serious sleeping, lots of advil, an antibiotic that may or may not work (being allergic to most antibiotics and nursing doesn't leave many options), nose spray, and the best husband in the world who stayed home to take care of our baby girl...I'm hoping to be better by tomorrow! :)

But...here's my post! Addie and I went to visit my dear friend Julie and her daughter Savannah when Addie was a little over 2 weeks old. Crazy? Probably. But we sure did enjoy it, especially because they were about to move to Kentucky! Here are some of my favorite first pictures of Addie and Savannah. Savannah was a little unsure of Addie at first. I think it was that she didn't want Addie to cry because it made her sad! But when we went to visit them several months later, Addie and Savannah had a blast together! I can't wait to see them together again now that they are both a little older! Hopefully sooner than later! They both have vibrant blue eyes and dark hair, are in clothes sizes that are double their age, and have Mommies who are best friends! We love and miss you Julie, Savannah, and John!

The Last Few Toofless Smiles!

Well...after several months of me proclaiming that "it must be her teeth...", they are here! We can both see and feel the 1st one coming in. They do apparently hurt...given that she was up at 11:30pm, 1:30am, and 4am (refusing paci, food, and screaming for 45 minutes) the other night. So...I though I'd post a few (not that we don't have pleeeenty, of course) pictures of her last few toothless smiles!

Thanks to Julie and Savannah for the too cute outfit! It was finally cool enough here today (at least when we dropped Daddy off at 7am) to wear long sleeves!

Kentucky

As I mentioned in the previous post, Addie and I flew to Kentucky to see our sweet friends Julie, John, and their almost 2 year old daughter, Savannah. We were so excited to get to play, visit, and catch up! We played, shopped, slept, and had an all around good time! Here are some pictures from our week:

Playing

John was so sweet to not only install Savannah's infant car seat in their car for us (and reinstall hers), but he also brought up one of Savannah's baby toys from the basement...a sort of exersaucer/jumpy jump combo! Quite the setup...very cool. Needless to say, Addie had a blast in it; and Savannah loved "helping" her play by showing her new things or jumping right along with her!

Just a few randoms: Addie grabbing both (not just one) feet and working really hard on getting those legs up underneath her (um...pre-crawling...slow down!). Addie had so much fun playing with Julie and Savannah; and John was so sweet with her! I think Daddy's with daughters have a way with little girls :)

The Park

Julie, John, and Savannah live in a beautiful neighborhood that has a community pool and park. We strolled down to the park one day and Addie got to swing for the very 1st time on a "big girl" baby swing! As you can see, she really enjoyed it! Savannah was such a sweet helper, pushing her so gently!

Our Matching Outfits

My mom and I made Savannah and Addie matching outfits. I smocked a snail on them and she made the tops and pants. It was great fun for us, sewing for two; and I think they turned out pretty cute also :)

Savannah was so sweet here with Addie. What shocked me the most was watching Addie sit herself up (with a little leaning on Savannah) as we took pictures! Wow!

A Few Randoms

Goodbye hugs! Sweet Savannah loved giving Addie hugs and holding her hand or foot. We worked really hard to help Savannah be gentle with Addie (being the baby she is); and what was so funny about this picture is right after i took it, Savannah sat up and gave Addie a quick (with a little more force than usual) pat on the tummy. It didn't phase Addie at all, but i think it caught Julie and me off guard. I just look at it as a sweet "love pat!"

We already miss our sweet friends and hope to get to see them when they visit family in Atlanta for Thanksgiving!

Our 1st Trip...visiting Julie and Savannah in Huntsville

Addie and I daringly took a road trip to Huntsville the day after she turned 2 weeks to visit a sweet friend who will be moving to Kentucky (much farther away) soon. Julie assured me her home was germ free (of which I totally believed knowing her!) We went for the day and Addie was fabulous...right up until we hit Prattville on the way home where she proceeded to begin screaming uncontrollably for 10 minutes straight until she zonked out about 10 minutes outside of town. I figured that was pretty good for her 1st road trip!

As we were leaving, Addie started to cry. Sweet Savannah kept saying, "no mommy, no." trying to get Addie to stop crying. It was so sad and sweet at the same time!
