Gramma's 60th Birthday Weekend

Two, yes two whole, weeks ago, we traveled to Augusta for Paul's mom's 60th birthday. I used to be a week behind on pictures, now I'm officially two weeks behind! Well, actually I decided to start working backwards. So I'm not that far behind.

But enough of that!

Gramma's friends threw her a great 60th birthday bash with costumes included! Our girls? Why 80's cool of course, complete with converse for all three of them, long sleeve shirts under short sleeve polos, and Addie's snazzy hat!

I love this picture because it has Uncle Jay (Paul's brother), Aunt Millie, Kira, Aunt Jan (Paul's dad's sister), our twins, Gail, and Gramma's sweet friend Shirley.

All of our girls love Aunt Millie!
bIMG_6625
Addie had a blast staying up until all hours of the night! And she loved eating cake with her Daddy!

Sweet Audrey Kate (don't worry, there are more of Anne Perry below :) What I'd give for those gorgeous eye lashes!

They had a delicious birthday cake at the party that we also got to have the next day with the little girls!

I think one of my favorite things about this weekend was watching Addie and Kira interact. Addie is one day shy of a year older than Kira. Addie got a little overly excited a few times, but as a whole, she was super sweet to Kira and Kira was an angel to her! The sofa picture was one of the cutest to watch unfold. Addie hopped up on the sofa and turned around and pulled Kira up there with her! I love the bottom right one though because it was exactly how Kira was when Addie was around! I have no doubt the twins will look up to Kira as much as she looks up to Addie. I can't wait to see them all at Christmas!

And Anne Perry getting some snuggle time with Ginger. She's one of the most gentle, sweetest dogs I know! If you've been reading this blog awhile, you might remember a picture of Addie and our dog Mollie in a similar position!
bIMG_6807
Anne Perry: love that smile!
bIMG_6796
Audrey Kate: love those baby blues!

Gramma had perfect sized pumpkins for the girls to decorate.

And then we attempted the impossible! I, unfortunately, did not pick the ideal location either; so these are super dark. Make sure to check out the progression of Addie's demeanor: from tears to giggles! Then again, who wouldnt get a good laugh out of Uncle Jay singing, Aunt Millie dancing, and Daddy "playing" a Chinese lantern all going on behind me with the camera!

Happy Birthday Gramma! We hope you had as much fun on your birthday weekend as we did!

First Foods

We have been so blessed that the little girls have grown and thrived solely on breast milk since they were born. Nursing isn't always the best option for every family; but for ours, it's just worked. And for that I'm so thankful!

But with pretty intense reflux (Audrey Kate spits up from the time she starts to nurse, while she's nursing and then at random for the 3 hours in between feedings while Anne Perry becomes congested, coughs and wheezes due to the reflux)...

...it was time to start solids with these little girls.

So on October 20th, the week my camera decided to break and my sweet friend DiAnna let me borrow hers, our little girls had their first rice cereal.
bIMG_6608
Yes, I realize that it's now November. In fact, it's November 8th! But I took them then and am at least posting them now ;)

Audrey Kate was pretty cool about the whole thing. In fact, she was even willing to help!
bIMG_6580

That is until she got a taste of that stuff that just doesn't have any taste at all!
ak
Now, she's the messiest eater ever! She blocks the spoon with her tongue and almost immediately spits it out with a grimace on her little face. When she's done eating, she has a pool of whatever she's eaten behind her head (when she's in the bouncy seat) because of all the drool and spitting out!
bIMG_6587
Ok. Ok. Yes, she's MUCH better with eating now, although I'm pretty certain that she's not a fan of food. She flat out refused bananas and has given me the worst faces for sweet potatoes, carrots, peas and even pears! I'm hoping she'll start to like it soon!

Anne Perry on the other hand literally slurped the rice cereal off the spoon!
bIMG_6572

She's got this chewing thing down!

And she loved watching Addie while she ate!
bIMG_6596
I couldn't not post this picture, no matter how out of focus is might be. Peace baby!
bIMG_6605
Overall, the girls are doing great with food. Less mess and more open little bird mouths ready for food to be shoveled in!
bIMG_6609
Now if only I could keep their fingers out of their mouths and their hands from knocking the spoon out of mine, especially when I don't have an extra set around to help feed them!

Next up...stage 2 and meats!

Pumpkin

...carving with our little pumpkin, that is!

I called Paul on the way home last week and asked him to grab a pumpkin.

I knew we wouldn't make it to the pumpkin patch this year.
Our October weekends just seemed to disappear.

So he came home with a ginormous pumpkin that Addie immediately deemed HER pumpkin...

...that I clearly should NOT take a picture of!
bIMG_6932
(don't mind the incredibly dirty face and t-shirt and panties attire)

While I often try to respect her {reasonable} wishes, this would not be the case here!
bIMG_6948
...and after a while, she didn't seem to mind!

After we finally managed to get the top off, she was fascinated with what was inside it!
Untitled-1
I was actually a little surprised she was willing to stick her hand in the sliminess!

You might remember this picture from the other day...
bIMG_6959
LOVE this face!

And I just love watching Addie discover things!
Untitled-2
...and mix things up a bit!
Untitled-3
Thankfully my mom was here to feed the babies. So I got to take pictures...
bIMG_6943
...while Paul carefully designed our pumpkin! (and Addie helped!)
bIMG_6980
After the carving begin, Addie wanted to see "whatcha doing, Daddy!"
bIMG_6985
And I love how she's tucked under his arm here!
bIMG_6987
And after all that work, this {smile} made it worth every minute of it!
bIMG_6991
Even though it was on the world's {dirtiest} face!

But I was pretty proud of Paul's {creation}!

Happy Halloween!

I realize my posts are getting shorter and shorter and fewer and farther between.

ok...except this one has {just a few} pictures

But between trying to catch up

keep up

clean up

Oh, and care for 3 precious angels
bIMG_7044
(side note: yes, this is a miracle picture!)

I'm not sitting often

except to nurse or rock.

I will get pictures edited sooner or later though

and posted.

I promise.

Yeah. And we start construction tomorrow or Wednesday.

{sigh}

I'll spare you the Halloween costume drama that ensued yesterday because today, it wasn't even an issue.
