(for the record, I've been attempting to complete this post for 24 hours now; but exhaustion, sleep, crying babies, babies needing to be held, babies needing to be fed, Addie gymnastics (more to come!), eating, a much needed shower, a 2 year old refusing to take an afternoon nap, and all around caring for 3 girls has prevented it :)
We gave Addie a choice: to stay home with RieRie or bring RieRie with us to go see Dr. B. Addie chose to bring RieRie with us and go see Dr. B! She loves Dr. B! Every time she gets an owie (or we talk about not doing something, like pushing back in the chair, so she wont get an owie) she talks about IF she did get that owie, that Dr. B would have to look at it! I am not entirely sure that sentence made any sense, but that's ok!
Addie has always been either in the 95th%ile or off the charts since birth. So having two tiny babies (who have yet to wear an article of her clothing!) has been quite the adjustment. I love tiny babies and I love chubby babies with rolls. So we've got the best of both worlds with our girls! Both little girls have started getting tiny rolls on their legs, and Audrey Kate has quite the set of chubby cheeks! But we never dreamed we'd have babies anywhere near that average 50th%ile range after Addie-boo! We are so thankful for their good health and excellent growth!
Here's the rundown:
Anne Perry:
weight: 9 lbs 1 oz (50th%ile) (from 6 lbs 9 oz in the 50%thile at birth)
length: 21.25 inches (50th%ile) (from 19.75 inches in the 50th%ile at birth)
head: 37.5 cm (50th%ile)
Anne Perry will return for a hip ultrasound recheck after 2 months. There don't seem to be any red flags though! Praise God!
Audrey Kate:
weight: 9 lbs 5 oz (50th%ile) (from 6 lbs 6 oz in the 25th%ile at birth)
length: 20.25 inches (25th%ile) (from 19 inches in the 25th%ile at birth)
head: 37.5 cm (50th%ile)
Audrey Kate's heart murmur could not be heard today! Whoohoo! Dr. B thinks it's probably still there though. Her appointment with the pediatric cardiologist is Monday. We will find out more specifics then.
Yup, Audrey Kate is still plowing ahead of her bigger sister! She might be heavier, but Anne Perry is longer by an entire inch! Last week, there appeared to be a huge difference in their weight; but this week, it seems Anne Perry has decided to eat a little longer and eat a little more in an effort to close the gap!
We are SO thankful for their good weight gain and growth! What a tremendous blessing with twins, especially since they are nursing! The Zantac seems to be helping reduce the pain from the reflux, but they are spitting up worse than ever no matter how long we hold them upright! Yuck! We are quite thankful for Gripe Water and Mylicon too!
Sleep is still rather broken up for Paul and me; but after talking to Dr. B, the girls are actually ahead of the game (sleeping more like 2 month olds vs 1 month olds)! Instead of waking up every 3 hours at night, they are going more like 4 to 5 and sometimes only waking up once in the middle of the night! Whoohoo! We're working hard to put them down drowsy vs asleep, and it's paying off already! One or the other of them and sometimes both tend to put themselves to sleep! (But not to worry, we're not expecting them to soothe themselves because they are still too young, so we pick them up if they get too worked up!) My new favorite book: Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Twins; a very balanced, adaptable approach to teaching twins how to sleep with progressions at an appropriate age (another version to Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child. Thank you Jen for that suggestion with Addie!). Ask me again in 3 months how that's working out!

that sleep book was my Bible for the first 18 months of each girls' life! not the twin one... heaven help me if i ever get pregnant with twins! that's a special job for special parents! : )
